Phase 1: Cold & Dark Power Up Flow

Overhead System Configuration Flow

  • Check ENG MASTER 1 & 2 are completely OFF on the lower pedestal.
  • Verify LANDING GEAR LEVER is safely down and locked DOWN.
  • Turn BAT 1 & BAT 2 push buttons to ON. Verify indicator voltage reads > 25.5V.
  • Look for green EXT PWR AVAIL light. Click it to route ground power into aircraft ON / ON LIGHT.
  • Switch all three ADIRS rotary knobs (1, 2, and 3) from OFF to NAV. Wait for the amber alignment indicators to stabilize.

MCDU Initialization Method

  • Press the INIT key on the physical MCDU keyboard layout.
  • Locate the INIT REQUEST* prompt at line select key LSK 2R.FlyByWire
  • Alternatively, head to MCDU MENU > ATSU > AOC > FLT INIT and dispatch data request.Fenix
  • Press NEXT PAGE arrow key to open the INIT B payload weight configuration window.
  • Double-click the ZFW / ZFWCG line select key at LSK 1R to auto-calculate aircraft weight distribution.
  • Manually type the calculated BLOCK FUEL load weight into LSK 2R.

Phase 3: ATC Clearance & Engine Crank Sequence

Engine Ignition & Start Control Path

  • Engage the APU MASTER PUSH BUTTON on the overhead panel. Wait 5 seconds, then select APU START.
  • Select APU BLEED to ON when APU AVAIL lights illuminate. Release ground power cords.
  • Switch the red BEACON LIGHT to ON before pushback operations.
  • Rotate the ENG MODE SELECTOR from NORM to IGN/START, then flip ENG 2 MASTER up.
  • Once Eng 2 matches operational parameters, click the ENG 1 MASTER SWITCH to ON.

Taxiing and Takeoff Configuration Flow

  • Deploy your FLAPS handle to the target position designated by performance sheets (usually Flaps 1 or 2).
  • Manually dial the mechanical wheel to set the aircraft's THS Pitch Trim target angle.
  • Perform full manual sweeping arcs to execute the flight deck Flight Controls Cross-Check.
  • Turn the NOSE LIGHT to TAXI. Switch your runway turnoffs to on.
  • Press the T.O. CONFIG push-button on the center panel to confirm electronic verification states.

  • Engage AP 1 after takeoff when safely tracking the active profile lane.
  • Pull the physical aircraft throttle levers back to the click detent marked CL (Climb) when prompted by the PFD.
  • Pull or press the altimeter control knobs to switch from local QNH pressures to STD (Standard Pressure).

Arrival Configurations to Cold State Flow

  • Input local airport weather data into the MCDU PERF APPR page before hitting descent checkpoints.
  • Set your barometric scales back to local matching QNH values when clearing transition heights.
  • After landing and vacating active lines, clean the wing layout by setting Flaps to 0.
  • Fire up the APU Master & Start systems to ensure standalone electrical supply lines are ready at the gate.
  • Once parked at the gate with ground or APU feeds locked, toggle ENG MASTER 1 & 2 down to OFF.
